Corcovado day tour 

Sirena Ranger Station

In Sirena Ranger Station, most of the area you are going to walk through is second growth forest that has been a protected zone since 1975, because of this most of the biodiversity on this trail is blooming with new flora and fauna! Here you will be able to see the infamous tapir, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, sloths, macaws, toucans and more. The list is endless!

We will depart approximately at 6 am from Drake Bay and return at 2:30pm the same day.

  • Boat: 1 1/2 hours; starts at Drake Bay and accompanied by guide

  • Duration of hike: 5 hours


What to bring: Hiking shoes, sandals, long sleeves shirt, long pants, poncho, bottled water and bug spray.

San Pedrillo Ranger Station

San Pedrillo is a station close to the Drake Bay and the entrance to Corcovado National Park. Most of the area is primary forest including a beautiful waterfall and a natural swimming pool. Here you will be able to see monkeys, sloths, macaws, toucans, crocodiles and more!


We will depart approximately at 6am. After our arrival we will take a boat which will transport us to San Pedrillo and return at 2:30pm the same day.

  • Boat: 1/2 hour; starts at Drake Bay and accompanied by guide.

  • Duration of hike: 5 hours

Overnight at Sirena ranger station

National Geographic has called it, "the most biologically intense place on Earth in terms of biodiversity." Sirena Ranger Station is a very remote area within Corcovado National Park with three modes of transportation:

  • Hike: 8 hours; 20 kilometer hike into/out of the park

  • Boat: 1 1/2 hours; starts at Drake Bay and accompanied by guide.


​Once you get to the Station, the guide will lead you into the jungle to look for wildlife. We cannot guarantee you will see all the animals that live within Corcovado, but we will do our best to find different species of mammals, reptiles, birds, insects, etc.

Cano Island tour

It is located 12 nautical miles from Drake Bay. It rises steeply to a flat top of 123 metres (404 ft) in height and has been established as a protected biological reserve as a part of the Osa Conservation Area.

It is a popular tourist destination for ecotourism where you can watch marine life, such as manta rays, dolphins, sea turtles, a wide variety of fish, and whales swim in the beautiful open water surrounded by the island.

The ocean water surrounding Cano Island is aquamarine blue, extremely incandescent, and incredibly breathtaking.


SNORKELING


We will depart approximately at 7:30 am from Drake Beach. After our arrival, the guide will take you to the different marine areas around Cano Island to enjoy snorkeling. After that, the ship heads to San Josecito beach for a picnic, and then back to Drake Bay at approx. 2:00pm. If the weather conditions are adverse we have to return to the hotel for lunch.

  • ​Boat: 1 hour, accompanied by guide

  • Duration of snorkeling: 2 hours including one 30min break after the first hour

DIVING


We will depart approximately at 7:30 from Drake Beach. It takes around one hour to get to the diving sites. Once there the dive master will choose the first site to start diving in a specific area around Caño Island already marked. After that, take a break and then the instructor will take you to the second special diving place. Each dive is about 45 minutes. Later, if the weather permits, the ship will head to San Josecito beach for a picnic, then return back to Drake Bay at approx. 2:00pm. If the weather conditions are adverse, we  may have to return to the hotel for lunch.

  • Boat: 1 hour; accompanied by guide​

  • Duration of diving:1 1/2 hours including one 30 min break after the first 45 minutes


What to bring: Scuba Diving Certification (required), sun block, bottled water

Location: Boat leaves from Drake Bay for Cano Island​
 
Includes: Entrance to the biological reserve, complete diving equipment, boat and captain, a certified instructor or dive master and lunch

Bird tour

This is a special tour for enthusiast birdwatchers that enjoy learning about birds. The most common birds you may see are toucans, macaws, tanagers, hawks, woodpeckers, fly catchers, parrots, trogons, herons, hummingbirds, ect. ​We promise it will be a great experience searching for these beautiful and colorful creatures of the Osa Peninsula.
The tour will begin in open areas (typically easier to spot birds) and later move into forest.

  • Duration of hike: 3 hours


​What to bring: Water, sun block, bug spray, poncho, and protection for your electronic items (highly recommended).
Included: Snack and telescope.

Night walk

The nights here are teeming with sounds of crickets, frogs and nocturnal birds. On this tour you will encounter the possibility of spotting frogs, toads, snakes, spiders, beetles, lizards, scorpions, katydids, river turtles and more.

  • Duration of hike: 2 1/2 hours.​


What to bring: Rubber boots, flashlight, long pants, bug spray, bottle water.

Tour to Madre Selva

Most of this hike is in open area, but once you get into primary forest you can feel the relaxing atmosphere. The guide will take you to the streams to look for poisonous dart frogs and mammals and then you can enjoy the natural pool at the waterfall.

  • Moderate hike
